Mrs. Danijela Bjelica Milovanović is a Science and Chemistry Teacher and the EPQ Coordinator at Wellington College International Tianjin. She is also one of the school's celebrated Star Coaches. She has been recognised for her work in supporting pupil engagement and academic enrichment. Mrs. Milovanović's office is at MB 319.

Early life and education

Mrs. Milovanović joined Wellington College International Tianjin in August 2018. Prior to this, she taught Chemistry at an international Chinese-American school in Wuhan from 2017 to 2018. Her teaching career began in Serbia, where she worked as a high school Chemistry teacher at Tehnicka škola "Pavle Savić" in Novi Sad for nearly sixteen years.

She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Chemistry from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Novi Sad. Her academic training focused specifically on Chemistry Teacher Education and she graduated with the title of Professor in Chemistry.

Awards and honours

International Educator Certificate, awarded in 2024

In 2024, Mrs. Milovanovic received a Certificate of Appreciation from Wellington College China in recognition of her five-year service.

On August 18, 2024, she was also awarded the International Educator Certificate for the successful completion of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Qualification Programme in the Diploma Programme (DP - Science), issued by the University of Windsor. This certification highlights her commitment to professional development and excellence in international education.

Role at Wellington

In addition to teaching Science and Chemistry across various year groups, Mrs. Milovanović coordinates the EPQ programme. Her role involves mentoring pupils on independent research projects, helping them build skills in critical thinking, project management, and academic writing.

International experience and personal story

Driven by a desire for personal and professional growth, Mrs. Milovanović made the bold decision to relocate from Serbia to China with her husband and two daughters. Her first experience in China was in Wuhan, where she encountered new challenges and opportunities that ultimately led her to Wellington College Tianjin. This journey, while difficult at times, has broadened her horizons and deepened her appreciation for cultural diversity and adaptability.

Personal interests

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Milovanović enjoys cycling, traveling, reading, and salsa dancing. She frequently explores Tianjin with her family, engaging in cultural and recreational activities. Her openness to new experiences is evident in her enthusiasm for both teaching and living abroad.

Mrs. Milovanović has been recognised as a Star Coach under the Wellington Academy programme, reflecting her contributions to academic and extracurricular development.
