Dr. Yang Yang (Chinese: 杨洋) is a Chinese international educator and the Master of Wellington College International Tianjin. She has held leadership positions in both domestic and international education systems, including serving as Director of the International Department at Tianjin Nankai Middle School and Vice-Principal of the Foreign Languages School affiliated with Tianjin Foreign Studies University. She has also been a guest professor and supervisor for postgraduate students at the School of Education, Tianjin University, and is a member of the Tianjin Hongqiao District Political Consultative Conference.[1][2]
Early life and education
Dr. Yang earned a PhD in Sociology of Education from Nankai University, focusing on educational equity and cross-cultural pedagogy.[3] She holds an undergraduate degree in English Teaching and a master's degree in Chinese Literature from Tianjin Normal University.[3] Her academic training provided a foundation for integrating Chinese and Western educational approaches in her professional career.
Career
Domestic education leadership (1997–2015)
Dr. Yang spent eighteen years in China's public education system. She served as Director of the International Department at Tianjin Nankai Middle School and later as Vice-Principal of the Foreign Languages School affiliated with Tianjin Foreign Studies University, overseeing the AP International Curriculum Centre, the International Department, and the Educational Scientific Research Department.[3] Her work focused on bilingual education, teacher development, and cross-cultural curriculum design.
Wellington College International Tianjin (2015–present)
Dr. Yang joined Wellington College International Tianjin in August 2015 as Deputy Head and Director of the A Level Centre.[4] In this role, she contributed to academic strategy, teacher development, and the integration of Chinese and Western pedagogical methods.[1]
In February 2022, she was appointed Principal, later taking on the title of Master of the school in August 2022.[5] She oversees all divisions of the College, including the Nest, Junior School, and Senior School, working with the Executive Master and leadership team to align the school's operations with its educational philosophy and values.[2]
During her tenure, Dr. Yang has focused on building communication bridges among Chinese and international staff, students, and parents.[1] She has also promoted international education initiatives that combine Chinese and Western educational traditions, encouraging cultural understanding and global perspectives among students.[5]
